Methodology and Calculation Assumptions
How verification, sizing, compatibility and runtime estimates are produced.
Source hierarchy and field verification
Manuals and datasheets receive highest review priority, followed by manufacturer support, product pages, authorized retailers and other reputable sources. Priority helps a reviewer organize work; it never resolves a conflicting value automatically. A verified field needs matching supporting evidence, a recorded review and an active usable source.
The initial approval
The site owner explicitly approved the initial 20 real-product records. Supplied evidence was marked verified through the audited service; missing fields were left unknown. This approval is not an additional claim of independent testing. A dual-purpose battery remains partially verified because series limits are unknown.
Boat sizing
Loaded weight and selected water conditions drive the thrust estimate. Length and boat type choose a generic fallback profile when weight is missing. Mount location and mount-to-waterline distance drive shaft guidance. A calculated sizing requirement is estimated guidance, while a source-backed product thrust or shaft option is a verified specification.
Electrical compatibility
The engine compares bank voltage exactly with motor voltage, checks continuous discharge against motor maximum draw and the configured current margin, and enforces series/parallel permission and maximum counts. Unknown evidence stays unknown. Lithium nominal values 12.8/25.6/38.4 V remain distinct from 12/24/36 V; manufacturer-specific voltage-class equivalence has not been implemented.
Runtime model
Estimated hours equal bank Ah multiplied by a usable-capacity factor, divided by maximum motor amps multiplied by a usage factor. Default usage factors are 0.2 light, 0.4 moderate and 0.65 heavy; default usable factors are 0.9 LiFePO4 and 0.5 for modeled lead-acid chemistries. The default current margin is 1.2. These configurable application assumptions are not promises about an individual battery.
Bank and field limits
The model assumes identical batteries and ideal parallel current sharing. Series increases voltage without increasing Ah; parallel increases modeled Ah and continuous current without increasing voltage. Peak current never replaces a missing continuous-current rating. Wiring protection, charging compatibility and broader equipment categories are outside this engine.
Review dates and corrections
Public pages show source links and the last recorded review. Freshness reminders do not automatically invalidate a product; source loss, conflicting critical data, archival or changed evidence can affect eligibility. Changing a source reference requires reviewing its evidence again.
Editorial and affiliate transparency
Initial guides are identified as AI assisted and integrate existing calculators and verified data. No expert identity, review, rating, price or availability is fabricated. Affiliate links, when present, are disclosed beside purchase options and are marked sponsored; commissions do not turn an unknown electrical result into a pass.
